During your stay in the Czech Republic you should not miss the visit of a large Gothic castle founded in the 14th century by Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor. Karlštejn castle is situated about 38 kilometers from Prague in the picturesque site on the Dragon´s rock. It served as a depository for the Empire´s coronation jewels and state documents. Karlštejn Castle is the most outstanding medieval castles.
The main view point of the castle is a massive tower, called Great, with the St. Cross Chapel. The Chapel is a world unique and special place with Master Theodoricus panel paintings, wall paintings, gemstone encrustations and golden vault covered with peaces of glass. Unfortunately the access to the chapel is strictly supervised and it is visited by only a few percent of the total number of visitors. On this route you will see the historic interiors of the Imperial Palace and the lower levels of the Marian Tower with furniture from the 14th to the 19th centuries. You will go through Courtship Hall, Knight's Hall with the Chapel of St. Nicholas, deanery, bedchamber, Audience and Banquet Hall, Hall of Ancestors, Treasury and former castle prison. After the tour of castle you will enjoy the lunch in local restaurant and then the bus will transfer you to O2 arena.
